Earlier today Beloit College released their annual The Mindset List, a collection of things incoming college freshman have always known.
There’s no denying technology has dominated their lives. In this era of smartphones, smart watches, and screens everywhere, the list is chalk full things that we couldn’t quite imagine ourselves growing up with.
- “Google has always been there.”
- “They have grown up treating Wi-Fi as an entitlement.”
- “Email has become the new “formal” communication, while texts and tweets remain enclaves for the casual.”
All of which continues to create the parenting dilemma of how much screen time do we give our kids? It’s a never ending balancing act that will only continue to grow. We were sent the infographic below which I think provides great information for a very balanced approach. Accepting that there’s going to be screen use but understanding how to use it to your kids’ benefit and limiting its use.
